The Bruins are reportedly on the verge of making another big move.
According to ESPN's Kevin Weekes, the Boston Bruins are closing in on a contract extension with forward Marat Khusnutdinov.
"Breaking news, breaking news. I'm told the Boston Bruins and versatile forward Marat Khusnutdinov are closing in on a multi-year extension," Weekes said.
Khusnutdinov is in the final season of his current deal, where he has a $925,000 cap hit. When noting that he has broken out and become a key part of the Bruins' forward group, it is clear that his next deal is going to come with a nice raise.
Khusnutdinov has appeared in nine games so far this season with the Bruins, where he has two goals, five points, and a plus-7 rating. This is after he set career highs with 15 goals, 18 assists, and 33 points in 77 games last season for the Black and Gold.
In 104 games over three seasons with Boston, he has 20 goals and 43 points. Overall, he has been a nice pickup for the Bruins since they acquired him from the Minnesota Wild at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. Thus, it makes sense that they are working to keep him in Boston.
